Design & Architecture Academy at John A. Ferguson Sr.
Welcome to the Design and Architecture Academy at John A. Ferguson Senior High School where the stage is set for exhilarating, creative experiences for aspiring interior designers, theatre professionals, journalists, broadcasters, photographers, film producers, drafting and construction technology students, artists, dancers, and musicians. The goals of the Design and Architecture Academy are to create the foundation to ensure that all students will meet high standards, improve student academic achievement, increase academic rigor, enhance the school climate and create a personalized environment for learning and teaching.
Students who are Academy Completers in the Design and Architecture Academy will be prepared for successful employment in the workforce in an ever-changing global economy while maintaining the highest standards of personal conduct and upholding their obligations at citizens.
In order to meet the educational needs and community demand, the Design and Architecture Academy will provide quality instruction and state-of-the-art curriculum by infusing technology integrated with academic courses through project-based learning experiences and direct involvement with industry professionals. The curriculum will enable each student to connect classroom learning with his/her post-secondary education plans and future goals by using a multidisciplinary approach to teaching where constant emphasis is placed on real-world application.
Design and Architecture students will study curriculum which has been articulated with post-secondary institutions and integrated with state and national skill standards. In order to receive an Academy Certificate, students must achieve a 2.5 GPA in their academy classes, a 2.0 GPA overall, and complete 75 hours of community service.
